Color Forge
A browser workspace for converting colored 3D models into a four-filament 3MF, and taking model photos for your build listing. Model conversion and photo capture happen on your device.
What it does
- Imports textured GLB, colored 3MF, OBJ with its materials and textures, ZIP bundles, and STL geometry.
- Maps surface colors to four filament slots, with solid-color, experimental layer-band, and FullSpectrum mix modes.
- Resizes oversized imports and exports a 3MF for your slicer.
- Downloads PNG or JPG model photos with a solid-color or uploaded backdrop, or a transparent PNG background.
An STL supplies shape only. Color Forge does not generate a 3D model from a photograph or invent colors for an unpainted mesh.
Color Forge quick guide
Import a colored model
Open Color Forge and choose your file. For OBJ, include its MTL and texture images together, or ZIP the folder. GLB textures should be embedded. Choose texture detail before importing; finer detail creates more triangles. Imports are limited to 100 MB total.
Set the print size
Check the dimensions in millimeters. Oversized imports shrink to a 250 mm longest side for the 260 mm Kobra X build volume. Use Print size to go smaller. Leave extra space for supports, a brim, and a purge tower in your slicer.
Match your four spools
Set slots 1–4 to the colors and order of your actual filament. Suggest from model is a starting point; it does not know which spools you own.
Choose a conversion mode
Four solid colors maps each face to a single loaded color. Layer bands alternates physical colors in horizontal bands; match first and subsequent layer heights to the chosen band height, and avoid resizing or rotating after conversion. FullSpectrum exports virtual mix recipes for Orca FullSpectrum. Standard Orca and Anycubic slicers may ignore those recipes.
Convert, download, and inspect
Click Convert model, compare Original and Converted, then download the 3MF. Open it as a project in the appropriate slicer. Select a verified printer profile, confirm filament assignments, review mesh warnings, and check the sliced toolpaths before printing. A 3MF export is not ready-to-run printer G-code.
Take a model photo
Open Model photo below the preview. Choose Original or Converted, rotate and zoom to frame the model, and select a solid color, transparent PNG, or uploaded PNG/JPG backdrop. Download the photo; the grid and controls are excluded. Label it as a render when sharing it rather than a photo of a finished print.
Share your build
Return to Upload your build. Attach the model and the downloaded image under Preview photo. Add print settings, the required slicer, and whether you have physically tested it. Current listing limits are 20 MB for the model and 4 MB for the photo; use a smaller image or JPG if needed.
